Freshman Seminars
Freshman Seminar courses are designed to assist with the intellectual and social transitions from high school to college by increasing the involvement of students in the intellectual life of the campus; providing orientation to resources available to students; and promoting problem solving and writing skills. The instructors in these courses have the option to choose from a variety of resources & campus events to help supplement and enhance their curriculum. Currently, there are three types of Freshman Seminar courses available to students: UCOL 1000, which provides a broad overview of a variety of themes; UCOL 1200, which is a seminar-style learning experience focused around one particular theme; and UCOL 1011, which is a college transitional course for Transfer Students to UNC Charlotte.
